Egypt is about to open the brand new Grand Egyptian Museum bringing to a close almost 20 years of planning
When finally opened and in operation the Grand Egyptian Museum will be the largest archaeological museum complex in the world and house over 100,000 artifacts.
Located near the Pyramids of Giza, the museum is huge – covering approximatley 50 hectares and housing the entirety of King Tutankhamun’s treasure collection of which about 5000 items will be displayed for the first time since Howard Carter opened the famous tomb in 1922.
